The soul of Green Heart of Kenya is its green space, and increasing biodiversity is the name of the game. The happiness and health of human beings is inextricably linked to existing as a part of a rich, diverse and healthy ecosystem and the three areas of natural growth detailed below are focused on ensuring that our residents and workers are constantly reaping the natural rewards of nature.
Our pockets of commercial and residential built environment will be linked by our reforestation program and productive landscape, which will cover over 70% of the landmass of the project and through holistic landscape design be integrated in a way which creates maximum benefit to all wildlife.
The three areas will be interlinked with the built environment with a series of baobab parks and pathways for walking and cycling, as well as extensive hedgerows and holistically integrated water management providing diverse distributed ecosystems and a cohesive landscape language.
We are welcoming partners and programs to be a part of this collaborative effort to create a truly unique and diverse landscape in our corner of Kenya, please get in touch:
Rewilding
With over 15% of Green Heart of Kenya committed to rewilding with indigenous trees, plants and animals, this will be our most biodiverse region and the store of biodiversity for the rest of the project and area. Here we aim to bring back flora and fauna not seen in the region for decades, and build a bank of wildlife and knowledge for all to draw on and benefit from.
This is a part of the larger “Creek to Creek” conservation initiative which aims to connect the diverse ecosystems existing in a 1500a band of land stretching all the way from Kilifi Creek to Takaungu Creek.
Regenerative Agriculture.
A further 55% will be reserved for one of the most important aspects of the project, regenerative agriculture. Unsustainable modern farming methods are literally killing our planet. With an unquenchable thirst for fertilisers and pesticides, these practices can not continue into the future without breaching the delicate balance of our natural ecosystems.
At the Green Heart of Kenya, we aim to use our land to pioneer the large-scale production of food, fiber, fuel and forest using integrated multi-crop regenerative systems which not only produce nutritious organic food, but also sustainable fuel sources and innovative building materials.

Model Farms
We are only one farm, and because we are all about creating a model for how development can be done in a way that has a positive impact on the environment, our natural growth program wouldn’t be complete without a focus on model farms.
Here we will be partnering with external organisations to pilot new way of growing their products using regenerative agriculture, after which these methods can be rolled out to smallholders and other farms around the region, producing an outsized impact on their long term viability, climate resilience and health.
