“Today, and with every day that passes from today, this place will forever be called the Green Heart of Kenya. We hope that the town we are developing here will be an omen for positive development across Kilifi and East Africa.” Logedi Luhangala, the stakeholder engagement and communications manager stated, midway through the introductions in an event that can only be described as surreal.
The naming ceremony for Green Heart of Kenya will forever be remembered as a moment when over 100 attendees of a colourful naming ceremony reminisced over the history of the land and the journey to the birth of the company. Showered with the rain, the participants were unwavering in their desire to see a dream for sustainable development in Kilifi come to life.
“Welcome all. I have often seen this as a home for all of us and a way for us to connect and build this place together. I welcome you all, not just today, but for every day moving forward to Green Heart of Kenya. We want to integrate and work with all of you in making this place a green living ecosystem,” Warren Wilson, one of the founders of Green Heart of Kenya stated in the opening remarks. Indeed, the sentiments were echoed by Lachie Gordon, the Managing Director of Green Heart of Kenya. “Green Heart of Kenya includes three signature living spaces: The Sanctuary, the Green Heart Village, and the Gateway. Each of these living spaces, along with our agriculture, rewilding, education, and other aspects of the company provide opportunities for each of you to foster positive development,” he noted.
With those remarks, Green Heart of Kenya was launched, as a location rather than an organization. The location is the hub of all development pillars embodied by the company. The Sanctuary includes a space subdivided into plots for sale from 0.5 to 1 acre in size. The Green Heart Village comprises 16 houses between 1 to 3 bedrooms sitting on ⅛ to ⅓-acre plots. The Gateway is a mixture of residential and commercial units with a few plots available for sale starting from ¼-acre plots. We also have a rewilding section, regenerative agriculture, sports and recreation, education, commerce and industry. We invite you to invest in your future in the sustainable town that is Green Heart of Kenya.
